How to Make Cucumber Juice

The versatility and availability of cucumber makes it possible for you to have glass after glass of cucumber juice throughout the year, making it convenient to obtain the numerous health benefits and nutritive value that cucumber juice has to offer. Find out in this article how to make cucumber juice and enjoy the nutritious and healthy benefits that come with juicing cucumbers.

Cucumbers have high water content which makes them a perfect choice for juicing. Cucumber juice has benefits for the entire body, from the cellular structures of tissues connecting ligaments, bones, muscles, and tendons to the prevention of kidney stone formation, increased blood pressure, inflammation, and development of certain cancers.

The cucumber juice itself can help in internal body cleansing to get rid of toxins that are, more often than not, stored within fat cells responsible for weight gain and increase in risks for numerous diseases. Cucumber’s high water content also supplies the body with electrolytes to hydrate cells and prevent water retention that can bloat you up.

Cucumber juice is a known as a diuretic, encouraging the removal of waste matter through urination. The alkalinity of cucumber’s minerals helps to regulate the blood pH and neutralize acidity in the body, making it an effective treatment for soothing existing conditions of duodenal and gastric ulcers.

Drinking cucumber juice on a regular basis reduces the amount of uric acid in your body. Uric acid is a human waste product which develops from purines as a result of excessive consumption of meats, seafood, and alcohol. Left untreated, uric acid becomes hyperuricemia, the condition which leads to gout and kidney failure.

Another noteworthy characteristic of cucumber juice is its ability to “clean up” the joints that get inflamed and cause pain. Cucumber juice can help treat other inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, rheumatism, and asthma. Cucumbers also contain lignans that help reduce the development of prostate, uterine, ovarian, and breast cancers.

How to Make Cucumber Juice

Given all that, your next question would be: how do you make cucumber juice? The first thing is to ensure that the cucumbers you will juice have been organically grown.

Why is this? Like other agricultural produce cultivated in the conventional manner, cucumbers may have pesticide residue on their skins that may be hard to rinse off.

When your cucumbers for juicing are organic, there is an assurance that you won’t ingest the pesticides along with your juice, especially if you leave their skins on. If you are unable to use organic cucumbers, choose those that are firm, rounded at the edges, and have a color that is a bright medium to dark green. Wash them thoroughy.

Avoid yellow and puffy cucumbers which have sunken or water-soaked parts or have wrinkles at the tips. Take note that thin cucumbers are a better choice for juicing than their thicker counterparts because the former will have less seeds than those which are thicker. You can find out more on the varieties of cucumbers here. But in short all three are suitable for juicing.

Choose organic cucumbers which do not have waxed coatings; these usually have trapped residue of pesticides, dirt or grime in them. The cucumbers will be easier to wash and rinse without having to worry about residues especially if you choose to leave their skins on when you juice them.

Although you can use a blender or do your juicing manually by cutting the cucumbers into pieces, grating and then straining them before coming up with enough liquid, using a juicer to extract the liquid from cucumber is the easiest way to go about it.

Just place the cucumbers into your juicer and you have instant cucumber juice in a jiffy.

Tips and Tricks for Juicing Cucumbers

While juicing cucumbers is relatively easy enough with the use of a high-performing juicer, choosing cucumbers should be done carefully to get the best kind. Cucumbers are known to be heat-sensitive, so choose those that are in the grocery store’s refrigerated cases to be assured of their freshness.

Some people avoid cucumber juice because of its mild taste, something that borders on blandness sometimes. To give your cucumber juice some zest to it, you can add some honey to it. Although drinking cucumber juice pure and on its own will yield maximum health benefits, you can add naturally-sweet fruits like apples to sweeten it a little.

Store any leftover juice in airtight and sealed containers in your refrigerator and consume it within the next three days. This means making only the amount you can drink in that time. Also, never heat your cucumber juice because this process will kill any benefits that cucumbers provide.
