Okay so you are here because you want to learn about the basics of juicing, or you have a particular query about juicing.

Well hopefully reading this page will either answer some of the queries you may have or at the very least steer you in the right direction.
In the Beginning…
Before we begin, I should introduce myself to you. My name is Dave and I’m the founder of The Juice Chief. If you would like to know more about my story you can check out the about page for more info on how I got into juicing.
But enough about me. This page was created for all you juicing fans out there.
Why Juice?

Fruits and veggies are good for us – everyone knows this. The problem is that the vast majority of us either don’t enjoy eating vegetables, or don’t eat enough of them to meet the daily required amount that our body needs.
You see eating fruits and veggies in their normal state will provide us with a substantial amount of vitamins and minerals, however if we want to obtain the most benefits from them then we’ll only do so when they are juiced.
Fresh juice provides us with essential vitamins and minerals, as well as vital fatty acids, proteins and lots more. These are all factors that are vital to maintaining great health.
You will find that when you get into routine to making fresh juice daily and hence make it a part of your diet, you will soon notice that you will have increased energy, a stronger immune system, a reduced risk of disease and finally you will also find that by drinking juice, it’s a fantastic way to losing weight.
No matter how old you are, it is never too late to start drinking fruits and vegetables. Juices are great at flushing away toxins from your body, are good for your heart, circulation and overall well being.
The other great thing about fresh juice is that it contains no saturated fats or added sodium and this can be helpful in lowering your cholesterol.
The Benefits of Juicing Fresh Fruits and Vegetables
As you can imagine, juicing provides your body with many health benefits. Here we’ll briefly outline 5 of the best benefits of juicing.

Detoxifies the Body
Often you’ll hear the terms “juicing” and “detoxing” in the same discussion, because it does a fantastic job of supplying the body with many great nutrients which can be used to help eliminate itself of toxic waste.
Some of the key organs that are usually targeted when detoxing via juicing are the colon and the liver. In the case of the liver, it is why you’ll often see juices made with lemon or grapefruit, as these have shown to help rid itself of toxins and allow the liver to function optimally.
Easy to Digest
Digestion is something that many adults struggle with. Perhaps not chronically, but regularly enough to cause real discomfort. It has been claimed in fact that 40% of older adults have age-related digestive symptoms per year.
There are various reasons as to why people struggle with indigestion as we get older, usually it’s a mix between:
- Dehydration
- Medications
- Lack of Physical Exercise
- Not Masticating Food Correctly
- Natural Old Age
So one of the huge advantages of drinking fresh juice is that your body hardly needs to digest anything as it has already been broken down into liquid form. So all the nutrients (vitamins and minerals) can quickly be absorbed by your body without having to suffer digestive system issues. This obviously means no constipation, just lots of nutrient goodness!
Improves Heart Health
Having healthy arteries that pump blood to your heart is crucial. However as we age, and due to years of poor eating habits for some of us, the arteries that pump blood can get clogged by severe plaque build up. This of course can course blood clots which can obviously lead to fatal heart attacks.
By juicing, you help keep your coronary artery healthy as some of the nutrients from fresh fruits and vegetables have antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, which both prevent damage of the artery walls. The antioxidants help prevent your blood from clotting as well as lower your triglyceride levels which is linked with heart disease.
By drinking fresh juice you also absorb other vital nutrients such as magnesium and potassium which are also very important for your heart.
Natural Stress Reliever
Some specific fruits and vegetables can help with stress and actually calm you down. One such vegetable you should juice is spinach, as it contains a number of factors that will you feel relaxed, including being very high in tryptophan, which is a substance in turkey which can make you feel sleepish (Thanks Giving siesta anyone?).
Spinach also contains magnesium which can help relax your body.
When juicing, you will find many recipes that use spinach as one of the main ingredients, due to the many health benefits and as mentioned, stress relief is one such benefit.
Anti-Ageing Benefits
One of main causes of ageing is due to oxidation. Our bodies come across free radicals (which are molecules whose reactions have widely been shown to age the body ) Usually these free radicals are ingested when eating food additives, processed foods and burnt foods. In other words, through cooked foods.
By juicing fresh fruit and veggies you are ingesting raw food which means it’s radical free. So the more raw food you ingest, the more antioxidants your body is ingesting which fights off the oxidation process in your body.
The ultimate benefit potentially being living a longer life, or at the very least shaving years of age off your body and as a result looking vibrantly younger.

- Juicing is easy! All you need is a juicer and you’re good to go.
- Juicing helps you to easily ingest the vital vitamins and minerals your body needs
- Juicing will help you lose weight
- Juicing can greatly improve your overall health and help prevent chronic diseases.
- Juicing tastes great. All you need to know is which foods can be juiced whole.
Cons
- Juicing certain fruits may actually cause you to gain weight (I’ll explain which one’s to avoid)
- Juicing can be expensive if you juice out of season fruits and veggies.
- Juicing can take a bit of time (preparing and cleaning).
